Richard Parrish
Artist Profile
Richard ParrishFrom his design studio in Bozeman, Montana, glass artist Richard Parrish creates beautiful kiln formed architectural installations and design elements such as lighting, tiles, and windows, as well as freestanding and wall hung panels and functional objects.

He is also an architect and owner of Studio Poiesis, an architectural design firm. He holds a Master of Architecture degree from the Cranbrook Academy of Art in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, and a Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho. His work was selected for the Corning Museum of Glass's New Glass Review 27, and he was awarded the American Craft Council Award of Achievement in 2003. He teaches classes in kiln formed glass in his studio and throughout the United States.

"My glass work explores texture and pattern, transparency and opacity, and depth in glass," says Parrish. "My training and experience as an architect strongly influences the design of my work. I find inspiration in both the human-made environment and in the vast landscape of the American west where I grew up. I find it is critical to my existence to make things with my hands."

Richard's work has been featured in a number of publications, including "500 Glass Objects, A Celebration of Functional and Sculptural Glass". His installations, design elements, and functional objects can be found in public and private collections throughout the United States.
