Lynn Goodman
Artist Profile
Lynn Goodman's colorful hand thrown porcelain creations are functional as well as highly decorative. The wonderful textures beg to be explored by the hand and the lush colors are perfect for blending or contrasting with the environment. Lynn glazes each piece individually using hand inlay with a latex-resist method that produces a crisp juxtaposition of colors. After firing the glazed pieces a second time, she applies a 24K gold luster by hand, then fires the pieces a final time to complete the finished product.

Lynn grew up in the NYC and Boston areas. After receiving her BFA at the Philadelphia College of Art (now the University of the Arts), she went on receive and MFA in Ceramics at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She has shown nationally in juried exhibits and invitationals. She is the president of Brooklyn Potters, a not-for-profit organization of tri-state potters who involve themselves in goodwill projects, such as the Empty Bowls Project, a national hunger relief effort. In addition, Lynn regularly teaches wheel throwing and the occasional glaze calculation class, both at seminars and at the college level. She currently lives in Brooklyn, NY, and shares her busy, creative life with her husband Joe Banish and Niblet the cat.
