|
Ruth Hyndman produces a variety of work in low fire white clay, including minimalist sculptures and sculptural vessels. In addition, she has created a stunning contemporary line of functional slip cast tableware, appropriately dubbed "Hefty Bowls".
Ruth is highly inspired by the beauty of her surroundings. She grew up near Cambridge, England, surrounded by the creative influence of her family of artists, writers, musicians and teachers. After obtaining an honors degree in graphic design in Canterbury, England, Ruth worked as a graphic designer in London's West End for five years. In 1992, she moved to the US, eventually making a transition to ceramics. She has operated out of her own studio since the late 90's and continues to build on her wonderfully creative home collection series.
Ruth has pieces in various private collections around the world, including London, Los Angeles, New York and the San Francisco Bay Area, and has undertaken a number of private commissions for both individuals and interior designers.
